Telluride Academy is now hiring a summer Theater Instructor. Strong candidates must possess sound and responsible decision making skills, have previous experience working with groups of children, preferably in a theater setting, as well as strong organizational skills to handle weekly student field reports, program logistics and activity budgets. Successful applicants are flexible, motivated individuals that have an affinity for creativity and spending significant time both in the theater and outside! Instructor responsibilities include ensuring a safe, engaging and educational performing arts experience for groups of students ranging in ages from 5-17. Telluride Academy runs a number of theater programs throughout the summer, each directed by one of our longtime theater, improv, dance and music specialists. The Theater Instructor will be responsible for coordinating with and assisting each program's specialist, supporting their vision for different performances, bringing creative and exciting ideas to the table and assisting in integrating our students into these unique programs. Many of our theater programs are designed for students to spend half their days practicing theater, and the other half participating in outdoor adventures. The Theater Instructor assists in the facilitation of all theater activities, as well as planning and implementing outdoor activities. Most programs run Monday-Thursday from 9am - 5pm, with some continuing into Fridays or even an occasional Saturday. The Theater Instructor, with a co-instructor, will be responsible for up to 13 students at a time and must feel comfortable supervising groups outdoors, working with a wide variety of ages and driving a 15-passanger van.
